Device audit & classroom pilot
A printable, repeatable checklist for testing the Labs with real devices and real learners.
1. Real-device accessibility audit
- ☐ iPhone Safari: portrait and landscape; no horizontal overflow; 200% zoom
- ☐ iPhone VoiceOver: headings, links, buttons, form labels, status feedback
- ☐ Android Chrome and TalkBack: swipe order, activation, reading order
- ☐ Chromebook: keyboard only; Tab order; Enter/Space; Escape; visible focus
- ☐ Desktop at 400% zoom or 320 CSS-pixel width
- ☐ Reduced motion, high contrast, large text, and read-aloud
- ☐ Complete one full lab, including a mistake, hint, retry, and completion
Device/browser: ______ Date: ______ Tester: ______ Lab/page: ______
Barrier, severity, and reproduction steps: ____________________________________
2. Small classroom pilot
- ☐ Obtain school approval and use only approved, minimal student information
- ☐ Choose one target skill and one 10–15 minute activity
- ☐ Include 5–8 students with varied reading, motor, attention, and support needs
- ☐ Observe: Can students start, understand, retry, and stop?
- ☐ Ask what was clear, frustrating, helpful, or felt too young
- ☐ Record barriers by task—not by naming students
- ☐ Fix critical blockers first and re-test the same path
3. Go/no-go review
Go when every core task is keyboard/touch operable, directions are understood, errors can be recovered from, no private data leaks, and critical device blockers are closed.
Decision: ☐ Go ☐ Go with supports ☐ Revise and re-test
